Older phones only had the ability to play these basic monophonic cellular ringtones, which were short tunes played with simple tones. This new version of cellular ringtones, often called either music ring tones, true tones, voice tones, realtones, mastertones, singtones or now use actual pieces of music, including the voices of singers. They are usually contained in MP3, WMA, or WAV format that can be used as a ringtone on many Symbian, Series 60 or smartphones.
